Giambi out 3 weeks

According to Sportsticker reports, which quotes MLB.com as a source, " New York designated hitter Jason Giambi will be sidelined at least three weeks after being diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and a partial tear of his plantar fascia... The injury, which affects the band of tissue connecting the heel to the toes, was discovered after an examination by Dr. William Hamilton, an orthopedic foot and ankle specialist." Another blow for the Yankees. He's expected to go on the DL Friday. Who replaces him on the roster?

Re: Giambi out 3 weeks

Surprised it's just three weeks after watching Giambi literally hobble around the field this past week. It was painful just to watch him.

Re: Giambi out 3 weeks

You almost have to believe that the 2nd half will be better. Get some pitching and a healthy field roster and they just may be back in business .. if they can stay healthy and aren't completely out of reach of a wild card.

I wake up every day with the same ailment and I'm not going on the DL.

Like the excuses Boston used last year after the five game sweep in late August?

Well, Mientkiewicz has been doing a swell job.

Perhaps, Todd Helton if that deal could work out.

Re: Giambi out 3 weeks

Maybe Helton, but any talk about dealing Giami to L.A. for Ervin Santana's just gone down the drain, at least for a while.

Re: Giambi out 3 weeks

Yeah, Giambi will be out for at least a month...perhaps the entire season (remember how much time McGwire missed because of this injury). Kevin Thompson is gonna replace him on the roster, not Shelley Duncan.

It's a shame Giambi had to hit the DL just now as the Yanks head into Boston. He has such good numbers against Beckett, Schilling, and Wakefield.

Sheesh... what's next in Yankeeland?
