Re: Yankees are toast

Let's not be too enamored with the Boston rotation. Only Beckett has been really good, everyone else is as suspect as the other pitchers in rotations around the league. Dice-K is very dicey, Schilling is either good or awful, but the manager is too scared to go and get him, and Wakefield is a .500 pitcher who can either be tough or bombed on any given night. The middle bullpen is not that great, the lefty from Japan pitches every game, and Paplebon has looked very shaky lately. The Yankees don't have to make up 14 games, just creep into the wild hunt. I am the first to admit they are awful, but stranger things have happened. Boston fans know first hand what I am saying, and despite this lead, many are waiting for something to go wrong. They have avoided major injuries so far.

As much of a Red Sox fan as I feel I am I also understand from many, many, many previous years ... we do falter about mid season. It is great to see them doing so well but I tend to look at the pitching as you do. I hope Dice-K gets the knots worked out because he still scares me a bit. He just didn't have it last night. Schilling has been a constant source for concern. He is one of those players that seemingly could be over the hill on any given pitch.

I'm just basking in the glory while I can.
