The Yankees' Jason Giambi discussed taking steroids and thinks that Major League Baseball should apologize for drug use by its players according to a report in Friday's USA Today.

In the report, Giambi says he "was wrong to do that stuff" and that the players should have taken a stand years ago. "We made a mistake," Giambi says in the article.

"I feel I let down the fans. I feel I let down the media. I feel I let down the Yankees, not only the Yankees, but my teammates ... Most of all, to the fans, I'm sorry."

When pressed to explain what he was sorry for at the time, Giambi -- citing "ongoing legal matters" -- repeatedly said he had been advised not to go into further detail. At no time did he use the word "steroids."

lol..."legal matters" meaning he could lose tens of millions of dollars if the Yanks could have let him go because of it.

I'm sure he is sorry, after all the health problems he's had to persevere through in recent years, it probably scared the hell out of him.

Hmm, from what I heard on ESPN, he did say steroids but only in reference to the league in general, not to himself. I agree with Empire that he was probably scared straight, though the fact that he says it didn't really work for him undoubtedly played a role as well. Great comment in defense of Bonds as well: "If it were that easy, how come you don't see anyone else doing what he has done?" He has a very valid point there.

We will never know the impact steroids actually have or had on a player's preformance. Did it help a guy with a great batting eye like Bonds hit the ball further? Who knows. I applaud Giambi for at least speaking out on the subject when he could stay mum like almost everyone else. Who is to say that any of us, faced with that decision to be able to make MILLIONS of dollars if our numbers were gaudy enough, would not do the same. I can't say that I wouldn't, especially if I knew many others were. As a matter of fact, I am probably leaning towards saying I would have.

Him saying roids never helped him is silly. Why would any player risk their life if the juice didn't help them?
