Yankees Expectations Of Roger Clemens

ok, there are already a few threads about Clemens going ... but i expect this one to be a little different

just what are the Yankees expectations of Roger Clemens ... and can he live up to them ?

last i heard he is supposed to have about 20 starts ....... just how many wins do they expect him to get ?

they seem to expect him to help develop their young talent ....... but if he is only there on days he pitches just how does that help ?

he is not expected to be there every day .... how will the club-house react to that .... especially being that he is not the only star on the team

I would say the expectations are to have him be a spark for the team...Same as he would be if he had signed with say, the Red Sox...

Re: Yankees Expectations Of Roger Clemens

fine but how much of a spark do you get from someone that shows up one day a week ?

Phil Garner, manager of the Astros was just on Mike & Mike and he said they werent too happy Roger was out playing golf in LA when he said he wanted to spend time with his family

Yep, I heard the interview... you think the New York media would let something like that pass as quietly as the Houston media did? The first time Clemens is supposedly out with his "family" and gets caught at some kind of function like this, it'll going to be all over the back pages.

I don't know for sure what the expections for Clemens are, but this whole situation is really starting to look very interesting.

That's cause Phil Garner doesn't have him...bet they were happy when he was keeping them in a game with an ERA at about 2.00...or did he not comment about that?

say he has 20 starts

you dont think it would bother him in the least to go 8-12 with a 2.00 ERA ?

i understand the size of his contract can heal alot of wounds .... but he is still a competitor

Tough to go 8-12 with an ERA at 2.00 and the Yankee hitting...no pen is that bad...I don't see him at 8-12...I see him at 11-6...

11-6 and a spark for the rest of the team..also 11-6 as oppose to the 6-11 they get from some one else is a big enough swing to get them in I think...

Wouldn't put it pass them my friend...it will go like this...

A-Rod: "Hey Rog, seeing as you no longer have a pad in town, you wanna come over tonight and crash with Derek and I?"

Rog: "Only if you wimps get up in the morning for a 5 mile run"
