Conditioning Coach Fired

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman can't say with certainty that poor conditioning caused the team's rash of hamstring injuries this season. He wasn't about to wait for more evidence, though.
Cashman fired strength and conditioning coach Marty Miller on Wednesday, one day after rookie pitcher Phil Hughes became the latest New York player to hurt his hamstring.
"I get the strong sense there's a belief that's now growing that it's coming from this aspect," Cashman said. "Once that happens, it's hard to change that."
Heavy rains that briefly flooded the outfield postponed New York's scheduled game against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader Thursday beginning at 3:35 p.m. ET.

Re: Conditioning Coach Fired

Now I get it. The reason they have completely sucked so far is because the conditioning coach was lousy. It had nothing to do with an old and over rated pitching staff, the hitters missing the ball, lousy defense, and a depleted bullpen. The conditioning coach was responsible for every aspect of them sucking.

I think they were looking to fire someone to make themselves feel like they were doing something. I would have liked to have been in the room when they were explaining to him why he was fired.

That's not why, Azrael, it's because every pitcher in the rotation has pulled a hamstring.

This coach was a new hire and had been working in a Palm Beach fitness club.

According to Suzyn Waldman, Yankees radio commentator, she said that there was almost a mutiny on the team. This guy knew nothing about baseball. Why Cashman hired him in the first place is a big mystery.
