A-Rod Home Run Record

According to the Associated Press, "Alex Rodriguez became the first player in major league history to hit 14 homers in the first 18 games of a season and tied the record for April homers, connecting in the second and ninth innings of the New York Yankees' 10-8 loss to Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Monday night." He still has several more chances to break Albert Pujols' year-old April home runs record, and I for one gotta believe he's gonna do it. What do you guys think about A-Rod's amazing April?

Cool Re: A-Rod Home Run Record

Without a doubt. If I were an opposing manager, I would walk him every time up. That's how hot he is.

Re: A-Rod Home Run Record

Oh, how hard it is to be a Yankees fan. Now that A-Rod is playing as we envisioned, not that anyone could envision a start like this, the rest of the team, with the exception of Giambi, Jeter, and Pettite, is in the toilet.

Damon plays every other day, Posada was well enough to play versus the D-Rays but not Boston, Melky is showing his true colors, and Abreu is good only for walks. Cano swings at anything he can reach, the starters couldn't carry an A squad, and the bullpen is perhaps on a par with Tampa Bay's, overworked and undermanned.

I know it's early and things will change, but without healthy starters, this team needs to score ten a game just to compete.

Re: A-Rod Home Run Record

it is early, and the pen isnt underpar the pen just need pitchers to get past the 5th inning more often. That will happen with healthy pitchers which they start getting back with wang.

Re: A-Rod Home Run Record

Proctor is never going to be reliable, Visciano walks every other batter, Mike Myers never gets a tough lefty out in a big spot, Farnsworth is either hurt or imploding, and bruney is a cast-off. Other than that, they are in great shape.

Re: A-Rod Home Run Record

finally legend comes in as the sound of reason here

does it really matter to Yankee fans what A-Rod does if the Yanks dont win ?

i mean how about if A-Rod slaps 4 solo shots every game for the rest of the year and the Yanks lose all of them 5-4 ?

Re: A-Rod Home Run Record

you people are killing me, when have the yankees every played well in april, and when have they ever not won the east? Calm down, the yanks willc laim the east again, your tellign me your worried about the red sox a team that top 3 starters gave up 17 runs to the yanks in 3 games while the yankees had none of there starting pitching. Come on calm down sit back and watch the rest of 144 games left lol

Re: A-Rod Home Run Record

I know recent history says that the Yankees should prevail, but the starters we are missing could well be missing for long periods of time throughout the year. Hughes is coming on Thursday, and the pressure on this kid will be immense. Our Japanese import is just plain awful and Mussina and Pavano could easily spend most of the year on the DL.

As for A-Rod, if he wasn't hitting, we could easily have only about 2 wins!

A-Rod is accountable for all of your other wins, legend? (6?)
