Cool Re: Yankees Trivia

Torre's #6 will be retired next. And I have a feeling that Paul O'Neil's #21 is going to be retired ( which I disagree with). The Yankees are soon going to have to go to triple digit numbers....Jeter's #2 will eventually be retired also. Then the Yankees will have no more single digits to retire:

1- Martin
2-Jeter
3-Ruth
4-Gehrig
5-Dimaggio
6-Torre
7- mantle
8- Berra AND Dickey
9 - Maris
10 (double) but Rizutto

Re: Yankees Trivia

Cheers, all.

Mattingly's number is retired, Lefty. And excellent call on Joe Torre, Pundit; nice lateral thinking. I never would have thought of that until i ran down the roster sheet.

You know, i looked at the list of Yankees who'd had their number retired and, yeah, i probably have to withdraw my frankly embarrassing suggestion of Andy Pettite. Can i call it all back and say Torre, Clemens, Jeter?

I just wish they'd retire number 56...

The way i figure it, in order to solve the number-retirement problem, the Yanks'll be the first to go three-digit, but i'd like to see them use letters first..."Now batting for the Yankees, number K, Lyle Heller!"

Wiz, you being the Class guy that you are, are certainly allowed a do over...the name of Pettite has been stricken from the list...
