| Leiter retires Al Leiter hung it up after a 19 years career. True to Yankee form, we got rid of him when he was 23 and got him back when he was 39! He never won more than 17 games, going 162-132 lifetime. But he was 8-3 in the postseason, with his team going 21-11 in his playoff appearances. Very big in New York charities, especially after 9/11, and may go to work for the Yankees now as a broadcaster. In 2002, he became the first pitcher to have beaten all 30 major league teams. He was not on a par with Andy Pettite, but was a pretty good left handed pitcher. |
