The quote attached to the banner says it all for this winning entry, “Hey it’s free.” Thus begins the “Replacement Level Yankees Weblog.” A truly, truly, truly mind numbing effort. Look unless you have a degree in math, and are armed with a calculator or two and the latest issue of “Baseball Statistics for Dummy’s,” please avoid this blog. For those who willingly ignore my warning, there is a word already coined for you. That word is geek. My Engineering degree and knowledge of the sport did nothing to help me with this analytical nightmare passing itself off as a blog.

UPGRADE RATING:

Okay boys and girls, I find myself upgrading the rating for RLYW....no, not because of the obvious hate mail coming my way...not because of the "Stat Loving Masses" who said I got it wrong...Nope...I am upgrading it for two simple reasons...First, the "Pie Chart!"...see there boys and girls...a little colorful chart and math becomes fun...no, no...don't everyone thank me all at once. The Pie Chart is reward enough, really.

Second and most important, RLYW has a sense of humor...hey that "Pie Chart" was aimed at poking fun at me...and I like it!...Good move...giant pie chart just to disect Moose's quality starts...now that's funny. Good job RLYW....a move worthy of praise. So lets get to the heart of the matter, shall we...the upgrade:


1) Content: Goes from a Ground Rule Double to a Solid Triple.

2) Graphics: Goes from Fouled Off to Single through the Infield.

3) Humor: Goes from Hit by the Pitch to a Bob Gibson style Brush Back Pitch.


Scouting Report: Goes from Geeks are not allowed in a MLB Clubhouse, to Relief Pitcher in the dougout counting pitches...


There you go....you loyal masses of RLYW fan's out there...hope you all are happy now... ...now release my dog please!

I've never really been a hard core stats guy. What's the appeal for you guys on a site like RLYW? Is it only for ppl who already like to crunch the numbers or does it pull in ppl like me that have never been deep into the stats?
