Re: Murcer's tumor malignant From today's Newsday: Quote:
Suzyn Waldman, a longtime friend and broadcast colleague and a cancer survivor, said: "I think he's got a great attitude. You have to keep that attitude when you go through this. You have to think, 'Keep me alive today because tomorrow something might change.'
"There have been so many miracles," she said. "You have to believe he's going to be one of them."
He has been a friendly voice in the booth for years. Waldman recalled that when she was undergoing chemotherapy, had lost her hair and had to go before the camera in a wig, Murcer used to tell her, "You never looked better."
She said he joked this week about how his memory actually has improved. She reminded him about when she used to talk "hour after hour" about her struggle with breast cancer. "The hardest part is when you first wake up in the morning. You feel fine - then you remember," she said. "I also told him, 'You know, you were there for me.' "
