If you're a Yankee fan, I wouldn't expect the old Pettite to return. He's not the same pitcher he was back in 1998. I wouldn't be surprised if he's even on the DL for some time in 07 but he's still a solid pitcher. I'm sure the Yanks are counting on his ability to pitch in the post-season.

Although, would he get a post-season start? Wang, Johnson and Mussina certainly are. What about Pavano? And they still have that Japanese pitcher to negotiate with.

I guess having a surplus of pitching is always a good thing.

Welcome home, Andy. This is a great move. Even if his best days are behind him, it's great to have him back. It was one of the Yankees all time biggest screw ups letting him walk in the first place.
