Cool Yanks' Proctor a starter?

According to Newday, Scott Proctor may be in the Yankees rotation. I think it's a crap shoot if they decide to do that. What does everyone else think?

"We'll probably have him proceed and prepare as a starter, because you can always go the other way, slide him down and reduce his workload. But it's hard to go the other way." Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said yesterday as the general managers' meetings concluded. "But that's for another day."

Ridiculous idea... will never happen and shouldn't even be considered.

Re: Yanks' Proctor a starter?

Could happen, if they don't sign another starter, but I dont think it's the right move.

Sure, he started in the minors and could POSSIBLY be a success, but take another piece out of an already thin bullpen?

He pitched 102 innings in a pen where no one else threw within 30 innings of that (And thank god Villone didn't). Don't mess with success.

Well, after getting Igawa, it looks like this is a risk the Yankees will not have to take.

Re: Yanks' Proctor a starter?

its still a good idea to tell protcor to train as a starter. The yanks have an old often injured pitching staff with randy and pavano. They dont have an emrgencey starter so he would fill the role nicely i dont think the idea was to ever start him

Re: Yanks' Proctor a starter?

So, during the season he will be waiting for a phone call like Vinny Testaverde?

Cool Re: Yanks' Proctor a starter?

I think it would be good to see more young blood like Procter in the Starting Rotation
