Their infield's fine and won't be changed at all come April:

C- Posada
1B- Giambi
2B- Cano
SS- Jeter
3B- Rodriguez

The only thing the Yanks should be focusing on now is starting pitching. Get two ( or maybe three) quality starters, and a guy ( like Jenks or Zumaya) to back up Mo in the bullpen.

Re: Gary Sheffield's status

does anyone have any ideas what teams have shown intrest in Shef
I could only assume the brewers, dodgers, braves, and whoever else has had him. But who would want them, and do they have any decent pitching prospects to trade?

The Dodgers and Braves really want him back?

As a Dodgers fan, I don't think it would hurt.

Re: Gary Sheffield's status

One thing is almost for sure.

Bernie Williams will not return next season.

Or will he?

The Saga continues...

Re: Gary Sheffield's status

if you see melky being used as the 4th OF next year then yea we wont see bernie back, but if they decide to let melky play in the minors all year then why not sign bernie for one more year

Re: Gary Sheffield's status

Bernie might be back next year?

Why don't they sign him to a life contract, already!

Cool Re: Gary Sheffield's status

When asked about Bobby Abreu, Sheffield said:

"He's a good player, but like I say, you can draw it up any kind of way. He ain't me. Look at all of their moves, and then look at the move they made with me, that George made. Which one panned out? I produced ever since I got here. If it wasn't for me in the first year I got here in 2004, we wouldn't have made the playoffs."

As for his own potential revenge, Sheffield vowed that he will get the Yankees somewhere, sometime. "When you let me go, I have a chip on my shoulder," he said, "and I'm coming with it."

This guy is more insufferable than than Barry Bonds. I'm sure the Yankees are shaking in their boots from his threats...I guess Sheffield forgot about his 1 for 12 post season. If the Yankees end up with this guy on the team again, I don't think I could root for them. Why woud anyone want him on their team?

Re: Gary Sheffield's status

Well, he's definitely going... The Yankees weren't gonna keep him even before he made these comments.

But please, give him to a national league team so he doesn't have a chance to carry out his revenge.

Well, a guy like Sheff is a lot more dangerous when he's, excuse my French, pissed off at somebody. And if he's hot under the collar at the Yanks, you better believe that if he is in fact a Tiger now, he's going be bringing 110% whenever he plays them. A guy like this, when he thinks he has something to prove? Very good odds he might have a great season in '07.
