| Joe Girardi to Yankees? ESPN this morning is reporting that former Florida Marlins manager Joe Girardi may take a coaching job with the Yankees. Word is Girardi only wanted two managerial jobs, the Yankees or the Cubs, and now that neither is open, he wants to bide his time and see if he can get himself in position to become Joe Torre's successor. What do you guys think of this rumor?

| I honestly don't see what is so special about Joe Girardi. Lee Mazzilli would do the same job, Tony Pena would do the same job, even Larry Bowa would probably be okay. I'm not trying to knock him but people are treating him like he's the second coming of Earl Weaver. |

| Re: Joe Girardi to Yankees? As a Yankee fan for life, Girardi is no more than one of those supposed managers, what I mean is that everyone assumes catchers are the perfect managers. Now Girardi is a great personnel guy because of his ability to relate to his players due to being more recently displaced from active MLB duty. He can come back to the Yanks and fill a lesser coaching position but he should never be considered the successor to Joe Torre as he is definitely not a manger of that caliber. |

| Re: Joe Girardi to Yankees? Im not supposing anyone should take over...because I believe Torre is the only man for the job. If we dish A-Rod out to the Cubs or whomever and get some young respectable pitching, the Yanks are close to bringing that championship back to the Bronx. The only person on the Staff now that I would consider for the managerial job assuming an opening would be Larry Bowa. But this time next year no one knows whos going to be available or whos getting fired |

| Re: Joe Girardi to Yankees? After Girardi took himself out of contention for the Nationals and Giants job's, most expect him to return to YES as an on-air analyst. Then again, others believe he will take a job to become one of Joe Torre's coaches and eventually take over once Torre is gone. |

| Re: Joe Girardi to Yankees? trying to predict what steinbrenner will do next year is just silly. We have learned from this man he will do anything abusrd he can think of. With that said i belive he will go with donny baseball as his successor i dont think coaching ability will be used at all in this choice. But also as we went threw this with torres last contract if torre and the yanks goto the world serise steinbrenner might even resign him.

| Girardi will probably be in the YES booth this year. But if he becomes bench coach, it will be at the expense of Lee Mazzilli - which is a joke. What did Mazzilli ever do wrong to deserve to be fired? |

| Re: Joe Girardi to Yankees? Girardi did a great job for the marlins but i dont see how he can be affective in New York. Some of those guys played with or against him and some of them are almost his age. And i should point out that Mazilli has already been replaced by don matingly |
