Wow. Joe Torre has announced the batting order in game 1 of the playoffs:

Damon
Jeter
Abreu
Sheffield
Giambi
A-Rod (a real slap in the face)
Matsui
Posada
Cano

Aside from the obvious - that this is the sickest lineup in baseball maybe ever, (Cano a .340 hitter batting 9th)...Torre puts Sheffield who has basically missed the whole year in the cleanup spot instead of A-Rod.

No matter what Torre says, he obviously doesn't trust A-Rod enough to let him hit 4th...

I agree with Torre's probable mindset. Let A-Rod start out in the meat of the line-up so he doesn't have so much pressure on him. Then again, he'll probably get non-stop questions asking about how he feels about hitting 6th.

But that is one sick line-up.

He's a consistent double-play man.... This is terrible....

A-Rod should be batting ninth.

9th?...man...why just not donate him to a team who would appreciate him. Send him to the Reds will you.

Oh, I like A-Rod, and he has had a great impact on this team's season. He had 121 RBIs for the season, no one can make me believe that he isn't important to this ballclub.

But, I think that the guys who are currently swinging the bat better then he is ( like Cano, Posada, Matsui ) should bat ahead of him, that's all. It'd take the pressure off him, allowing him to play better, and it'd give guys like Cano a chance to really step up.

All in all, it'd help the team if A-Rod batted ninth ( or 8th).
