Yankees Clinch AL East for 9th Time

Although the Yankees lost to the Blue Jays, the Boston Red Sox lost their game and the New York Yankees are the 2006 American League Eastern Champions for the 9th consecutive year.

Will they come close to the Braves' record?

I live in New England and I love the fact that the Yankees have made it ! Having the knowledge of the Red Sox ownership, I am shock that they did so well. Johnny Damon was smart to leave the siking ship when he did!!! Yankees and Met are World Series bound!!!!

Re: Yankees Clinch AL East for 9th Time

Welcome back to the GoTeamsGo Fan Forum, piratesfan. I am surprised that there is a Pirates' fan in Maine where I would expect them to be die-hard Red Sox fans. Anyway, I would just like to tell you that our own Administrator the GoTeamsGo Fan Forum, Lefty Noob, is also a Pirates fan so you aren't alone.

I can see the Yankees contending in the future as long as Boston and Toronto fail to succeed in that later half of the season. Both of those teams have the potential but must work hard to achieve their goal. I would comment that the Red Sox are in the rebuilding period, since they made some significant changes to their roster in their post-2004 WS era. The Blue Jays are just starting the rebuilding prospect by acquiring some overpriced free-agent but they need more power in their line-up and can't rely on only Vernon Wells to lead them the way to the championships. The Yankees are always rebuilding since they always bring in new stars each and every year to keep the seats in the Bronx filled and to produce wins.

The Yankees have won the championships in the past (26 times to be exact) and I can guarantee you that they will in the future. What curses of Alex Rodriguez?

Welcome to GoTeamsGo Pirates fan. I look forward to chatting baseball with you....I love Damon. Watching him play every day, I realize he's even better than I thought, but let's not give him that much credit for leaving the Red Sox. It wasn't any great insight on his part. He came because he was offered more years and money...As Joe Pesci said in the movie Casino, "it's always the dollars, always the dollars."

The Red Sox fans went from comparing Damon to Jesus to comparing him to dirt.

And it all took one little scribble!
