| Re: Yankees Heading To ALCS Blown calls are a part of the game. Always have been. There is a reason many people oppose instant replay on close calls, it's because they like that sometimes plays are missed. Not because they want games to end unfairly, but because that is just how baseball has always been.
As for this instance, the ball was clearly fair, the Yankees caught a huge break. Could have happened either way. Are you implying the umpires were paid off? If so, I doubt a team up 2-0 in the ALDS would bribe the umpire, that isn't very big of a situation to take a huge risk like that.
Your also making an attack at how much money the Yankees have. Would you be happier with a shared revenue for the MLB? I know it is unfair for many small market teams, and it sucks to have your season seem to fall down after one missed foul ball. There should be something to try and keep it somewhat fair for small market teams such as the Orioles and Royals. Right now though, there isn't. I happen to be a Yankee fan, they also happen to have the most money in baseball. That is just how it is.
My main point here is, it was a blown call by the umpire, albeit a big blown call. At the same time though, you can't blame the whole series on that, the Twins had a lot of other opportunities to score, hold the Yankees and win that game.
