Avery hurt by comments in brief

Comments made by Rangers GM Glen Sather have upset 27-year-old winger Sean Avery. Coach Tom Renney called Avery one of the team's most valuable components last season, but management referred to Avery as "a reasonably effective player as well as a detriment to the team," in the team's salary arbitration brief. Avery said he was disappointed and offended and called many of the statements made about him in the brief unfair. Avery is seeking $2.6 million in arbitration, while the Rangers are submitting an offer of $1.3 million.



i know he had a bad rep before he came to the rangers, but the rangers run weather was caused directly by him or not, started when the rangers got him, and he never acted out, and you always heard people like shanny and renny saying nothing but good things about him. I know the rangers have spent alot of money this year and trying to keep it down but i dont see an arbitrator giving him 1.3 mil the team wants i see him getting the 2.6 million he wants, and getting a bad realtionship with the rangers(the part i hate the most).

Avery is the kind of guy you hate if he's not on your team, but you love if he is. They're only knocking him because they want to get his salary number down.

Even though it's just business, it can work against you. Mike Milbury brought Tommy Salo to tears in their arbitration hearing and Salo was traded soon after.

they agreed to terms i belive before he got to arbitration, no idea what the terms of the contract are, but hopefully this doesnt leave a bad taste in averys mouth.
