Jaromir Jagr

As a Pens fan, I've always really enjoyed watching Jaromir Jagr play, even though he's no longer with my favorite club. And boy is he ever having a phenominal season in 2005-06. True, he's been held without a point in two straight, but Jagr still leads the NHL with 91 points and 42 goals, and he's 4th in the league with 49 assists. Is he having an MVP season?

on his way, could be.
Do you ever think, Man he's an arrogant sob? with the guns shooting into the air after a goal? Think he's a team player?

On a line with other Czech sure...actually, I think its more of a "big excited child playing a game he loves" mentality...but hey, what do I know, I am a Columbus Blue Jackets backer

No doubt has has offensive tools that most in the NHL would envy, but my big knock on him is the ability to play within a team structure and also his play on both sides of the puck.

Re: Jaromir Jagr

He is the team structure this season for the Rangers. He's been hot for what seems like all season. I can't talk about his defense since I haven't gotten to watch many games as of late but I think when he can score like he does, it's not the biggest worry.

Then again, the Rangers do need to add another defenseman into the mix at the deadline. Jagr will have the record for most goals in a season by a Ranger. Adam Graves had 50 or 52 back in 1994...

Re: Jaromir Jagr

Jagr didn't look so hot tonight, as he was watching the referee tell his coach this his stick was illegal and he couldn't shoot in the SO.

That was the 2nd time I've seen him w/ an illegal stick late in a game or OT. Somebody's got to get him some new sticks...don't ya think?

Re: Jaromir Jagr

On Friday, Jagr became the first NHL player since 2002-03 and just the third Ranger ever to score 50 goals in a season.

Quote:
Jagr opened the scoring with 5:27 left in the first period.

Jagr skated in front and drew Luongo out of the crease, then moved toward the left circle and shot the puck behind Luongo.

"I faked the shot to see what the goalie was going to do and then I hit the net," Jagr said.

The Czech star scored 50 goals for the third time in his career and became only the third player in Rangers history to accomplish the feat. Vic Hadfield had 50 in 1971-72, and Adam Graves scored 52 goals in 1993-94.

Jagr had a career-high 62 goals in 82 games for Pittsburgh in 1995-96 and had 52 in 81 games in 2000-01, his final season with the Penguins. In 2003-04, he had 31 goals in 77 games for Washington and the Rangers. He has played 70 games this season.

Jagr also is the first player to score 50 goals in a season since Milan Hejduk had 50 for Colorado in 2002-03. Calgary's Jarome Iginla, Nashville's Rick Nash and Atlanta's Ilya Kovalchuk tied for the league lead with 41 in 2003-04, the last season before the lockout.

"First, we have to make the playoffs," Jagr said. "Any point right now is huge."

Okay, now I'm convinced... Jagr is the league's MVP, no doubt about it. Best player in hockey right now.

Re: Jaromir Jagr

Well, Jagr tied Adam Graves' Ranger record with his 52nd goal and tied Jean Ratelle's 34-year-old point record by scoring his 109th on the season. And New York won, to boot! They beat Buffalo 5-4 in shootout.

Re: Jaromir Jagr

I'd have to go back and check the numbers, but I'm fairly certain this is one of the best years of his career.

Re: Jaromir Jagr

Actually, Jagr has had some better seasons with the Penguins.

95-96, 62 goals 87 assists
98-99, 44 goals 83 assists
00-01, 52 goals 69 assists

Damn he's good lol
