I like him - who doesn't? He's funny and he was a great player. but this just smacks of Get Over Yourself.
This month, Shanahan will receive the first Mark Messier Leadership Award. Every month, messier is going to give it to the player (Rangers et al, it seems) who has shown that he is the leader on and off the ice. At the end of the season, one of those players will be named the Mark Messier Leader of the Year.
