Mets Playoff Rotation

Now with the Mets, they don't have much going on that's exactly news worthy. Running away with the division...and NL, they are sitting mighty pretty. The big things to note besides winning ball games and the play of guys like Beltran and Wright is the development of the playoff rotation.

Assuming Pedro Martinez (scheduled to return in a couple of weeks) and Tom Glavine (slated to return this weekend, Friday or Saturday) are healthy by October, here's what I would do with the rotation.

Game 1: Pedro Martinez
Game 2: Tom Glavine
Game 3: Now this is where it would get tricky. This game would be on the road. It would be Steve Trachsel, Orlando Hernandez or John Maine.

To tell you the truth, I see John Maine starting the third game. He's been great over his last couple of months worths of starts. El Duque has the ability to work out of the pen and Trachsel can do it too (although it's not something you'd like, you only need 3 starters in the Division Series).

Re: Mets Playoff Rotation

The latest news is that Pedro Martinez is on a plane to Florida in pursuit of starting his rehab. Hopefully, we will see him on the mound sooner than we expected.

I have Orlando Hernandez pitching on the end of my rotation, in my Mets' franchise with the updated-rosters in MVP Baseball 2006. He seems to be consistent as a #5 starter even though I had him come out of the pen a couple of times for some impressive appearances. I created John Maine using his ratings from MLB '06:The Show and he seems to be pitching well in my third spot. Oliver Perez is in my fourth slot, since I moved him from third due to his high-4.50 ERA and 2-5 record with the Mets in the game. I have Victor Zambrano but I put him in the minor since he is injured. Pedro Martinez is also in my minor leagues right now, but I have him set to take back his #1 spot as soon as he returns.

The Mets have decent pitchers, but they just have to organize them to produce wins.
