Earlier today, Ricky Ledee was designated for assignment so Shawn Green could be added to the roster. Meanwhile, Ramon Castro was put on the 60-day DL after undergoing surgery yesterday on his knee. I'm not sure if he'll be ready to play in the playoffs and if he isn't, Mike DiFiliece is expected to be Paul Lo Duca's back-up.

Also Brian Bannister is expected to start tomorrow in place of El Duque who according to Adam Rubin, will be scratched. This also means Oliver Perez is expected to start on Saturday, in place of Tom Glavine who is still about a week away from being able to start.

*Update* Lastings Milledge was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk tonight to make room on the 25-man roster for Brian Bannister. Milledge should be called up once the rosters expand in September, but will not be eligible for post-season play in that case.

The Mets have been shuffling their roster around all year and still have been putting a beating on other NL teams. With all the injuries they have suffered, you wonder how much better there record would be. They can get the NL pennant with or without their stars, but they won't have a chance in the World Series without Pedro and Glavine.
