| Mike Piazza Returns to Shea Tonight One of the greatest players in Mets history will return to Shea Stadium later tonight. Mike Piazza, acquired in a mid-season 1998 trade from Florida, turned around the franchise, putting them on the map once he re-signed with the team at the end of the year. He helped lead the Mets into the playoffs in 1999 and even the World Series in 2000. In the first game in NYC since September 11th, 2001, Piazza hit a home run in the 8th inning against the Braves and the Mets won. Needless to say, he will receive a tremendous ovation from Shea's faithful. NY Daily News: Piazza ovation on Mets' menu Newsday: He deserves his share of praise |
