Mets offer K-Rod three-year deal

Quote:
LAS VEGAS -- Omar Minaya's Sunday evening dinner with Francisco Rodriguez wasn't without results. The Mets have offered Rodriguez a three-year deal, according to a report on FoxSports.com, though they're not optimistic that K-Rod will accept.

"All of these agents think there is more out there," a team official was quoted as saying in the report, alluding to the fact that K-Rod is seeking a longer contract. "They're going to be in for a shock."

Even if he doesn't accept this, we could still make more offers to him, especially with a lengther contract. I hope we offer him one, for sure.

Re: Mets offer K-Rod three-year deal

Well he signed for 3 yrs $37M with a 4yr that will kick in based on health, not performance. Shows that the Mutts, like everyone else, were concerned about health issues. Overall not a bad signing. Obviously an improvement and they did not have to pay Mariano money. If he gets hurt they are only on hook for 3 yrs. A smart move by management who learned their lessons the hard way with Perdo and Wagner. Fills a big hole for them. Now they will look to trade Heilman...Rockies?? Still could use another bullpen arm and of course, 2 starting pitchers.
