Cool David Wright

The Mets have found their Derek Jeter. Wright is only 23, is already a great hitter and is a great guy. So down to earth. It's scary to think about how good this guy is going to be.

Re: David Wright

What is a Derek Jeter? lol

Many usually compare Reyes to Jeter being that they're shortstops. As long as Wright continues what he's done since he came to the majors two and half years ago, everyone will be happy.

Saw him get up to 8 dingers in the Derby...went to get a bite to eat...the guy ends up at 16 in 1st round...too bad he was on my fantasy team last year.

Pundits Dictionary for Derek Jeter: A guy that is the proud face of franchise - that nobody can say a bad word about. A great clutch player and a great guy.

Even the worst Yankee haters around here still say it's impossible not to like Jeter. I can say the same thing about Wright. He's such a down to earth guy, he's impossible not to like.

Re: David Wright

The only thing I wonder about, Pundit, is whether or not Wright has Jeter-esque leadership and big play capability (i.e. that amazing catch and toss in the playoffs a few years back). But he definitely seems to be the guy who may be the "face of the Mets" for many years to come.

That's a good point Lefty. Only time will tell and if he has one weakness in his game is his fielding.

Re: David Wright

I think he will win at least 4 MVP awards over the course of his career. His defense and offense are both superstar caliber.

Re: David Wright

Wright may win MVPs, but not with his glove. It remains to be seen if in New York, under the intense media glare, he can remain in the same positive light that Jeter has been able to stay in. It would be nice if he could.

Re: David Wright

I wanted to but I completely forgot about it. Wright's a cool and collected guy so I'm sure it went well.
