Kazmir a horrible trade

The New York Mets are reminded of a horrible mistake almost everytime Scott Kazmir or Victor Zambrano take the mound. Kazmir just recently 2-hit the Red Sox in a 3-0 Tampa win and Victor Zambrano is down for the year after having mulitple surgeries on his pitching elbow including Tommy John surgery. Here are the players collective stats since the trade.

Scott Kazmir
22-17 record, 3.81 ERA
2006: 10-5 record, 3.29 ERA

Victor Zambrano
10-14 record, 4.43 ERA
2006: 1-2 record, 6.75 ERA

Yep, this has been a topic we have been discussing here at GoTeamsGo MLBNY...I for one aam fornuate to have picked up Kazmir on the free agent wire in my fantasy league this year.

Do you see a CYYoung in Kazmir's future?...and how long will Zambrano hang on?

Re: Kazmir a horrible trade

The Mets are going to actually have to win a World Series for their fans to forgive this one. This is possibly the worst move in recent memory. Kazmir was a young left hander with great stuff and highly thought of thruout baseball at the time of the trade.

Re: Kazmir a horrible trade

It is unfortunate that the Mets ended up with the bad stick of the deal. The Mets dealt away Scott Kazmir in good faith that Victor Zambrano would be better. They were wrong, and disappointed plenty of Mets fan. There is nothing the organizations can and will do about it now. I guess they just have to, "play it out".

Yep, it was as bad a trade as you could possibly think of. However, myself, I've placed it in the backseat of my mind. It's easy to dwell on the past but right now, the Mets are in 1st place.

Kazmir will be a free agent in a few years anyway, where he'll likely sign with the Yankees (they'd be crazy not to throw the farm at the kid since he's a BoSox killer).

Re: Kazmir a horrible trade

The heat that the Mets take every time Kazmir pitches well may be able to force the Yankees to hold on to Philip Hughes, who is their Kazmir-like prospect in Double AA.

Then again, can't you say the same about letting go of Bay and Mora? Jacobs wasn't too shabby either...

Welcome to Go Teams Go Masterpiece. I see your point about Bay. Mora is a different story ecause the Mets were in the World Series the year they traded Mora because they needed a shortstop. THey got Mike Bordick so that one you can't get to crazy about...Here's another doozy- How about Isringhausen for Billy Taylor?

They needed Bordick because Ordonez got hurt in the middle of the season and they needed a SS. They liked Mora but obvioulsy didn't think he'd become such a good hitter. They only dealt Mora because he was a defensive liability.

As for Izzy, he wasn't meant for New York. Check out this story from 2000 to see his long history of incidents while a member of the Mets organization...

Survival of The Wackiest / Being the A's closer should be tame stuff for fearless Isringhausen

The Mets do have a history of making some poor trades but oh well, it's in the past now that Minaya is running the ship.
