| Mets Bullpen Solution Ok well clearly the Mets have had some bullpen issues but I think I have a solution on how to help fix it.
1. Call up Eddie Kunz from AA minor leagues. Clearly it could be a risk but what is there to be lost at this point. He has 27 saves with a 2.79 ERA in AA.
2. Put Aaron Heilman on waivers and then pull him out and hope that someone makes a deal for him. It will be hard to make direct trades due to the end of the trade deadline.
3. Search waivers and free agents for any sign of possible relief pitcher talent. Even someone with a 4.00 ERA is worth a shot at this point.
4. They should get atleast one guy with the post trade deadline waiver technique. One guy that they can trust will hold a close game for just one inning, or be able to close a game when needed. I have a list here of possible candidates.
1. Jonathan Broxton- Not a great relief pitcher but has a 3.65 ERA with 60 strikeouts. The plus side however with this guy is that he might not be to hard to get with his status, however the Dodgers are in a pennant race so they might try to keep all current talent.
2. Heath Bell- A former New York Met, this guy is a solid relief pitcher. He has 3.25 ERA with 55 strikeouts. It might not be impossible to treat the Padres with some prospects due to the fact that they are clealry drifting farther and farther away from the post season.
3. Jon Rauch- He was just traded to the Dbacks, so it may be a tough pitcher to get, but, he is a fantastic pitcher with a 2.86 ERA and 56 strikeouts.
4. Eddie Guardado- Maybe one of the most realistic ones here, he has a 3.15 ERA and 26 strikeouts. It may not be to hard to coax him out of the Rangers grip if they show the right players, such as some prospects or maybe even some outfielders.
Well that is the plan I have here to try and help the Mets bullpen issues.
