Jerry Manuel managed his Mets team to a victory in his debut as the ballclub's skipper, as New York beat Philly 5-4.
“This is something I’ve been waiting for a long time,” Manuel told reporters after the game. “To come back and win this game against that type of team—and the way in which we did it—was very impressive... It’s been a whirlwind of emotions for [the players], really. I think yesterday we played as if we were still under a cloud. And regardless of the outcome of this game, I still would have been very proud of the way they played. They were up for the game the entire time.” Good start. Can he keep it up?
