Pedro Martinez Injured

Damn!

Pedro Martinez left the game in the 4th inning after landing awkwardly on his left leg while pitching. He was favoring his thigh area which is leading many to believe it may be a hammy issue.

No official word yet.

Damn!

Re: Pedro Martinez Injured

Typical fragile Pedro. He'll be lucky to get 20 starts this year. Talk about stealing money.

Re: Pedro Martinez Injured

Did I or did I not say on a previous post that they will be lucky to get 20 starts out of him?? Sure this is just one start but it underlines just how fragile he has become.

Seems like no one is. This may have been a good signing when it was made, but Pedro should hang them up. He's done. Too fragile.

Re: Pedro Martinez Injured

Pedro's not done, it was a freak thing IMO. He'll be back and will help the team. And once again, anyone who says it was a bad signing, HA!

Anyway, the Mets placed Pedro on the 15-day DL and called up RHP Nelson Figueroa to take his spot. One report says they expect Pedro to be out between 4-6 weeks.

El Duque should be back within the next 2-3 weeks.

Re: Pedro Martinez Injured

Pedro has given them 160 innings total for the past two seasons. he is already out for 4-6 weeks. he was getting lit up when he got hurt. And if you think he is going to come back good as new, then.... At the time it wasn't a bad signing but do you actually think he has helped them?

When he was injured, the Mets were down by one or two runs (I forgot the exact score) and in the middle of a comeback. Yes, he did get hammered early on, but he did settle down...if that's possible in less than 3 innings.

Pedro has definitely helped this ball club since he signed with them. He certainly hasn't given them 200 innings per, but he's still able to give this team a confidence about them.

If he's able to stay healthy long enough, he is still an effective pitcher. A hammy injury could be nagging (it's said to be a strain) but at least it's not an elbow/shoulder/etc. injury (knock on wood).

He should be able to provide the Mets with at least 150 IP in 08.

Re: Pedro Martinez Injured

If you told the Mets they would get 150 innings from him they would sign for that right now!
