Subway Series Rotation

The belief for the Mets was that Brian Bannister would be able to return from the DL in time to pitch on either Friday or Saturday against the Yankees. How it looks now though is he will not be able to. Team Brass want him to get at least one rehab start in which would prohibit him from coming up and pitching this weekend.

In his place, the plan is for Jeremi Gonzalez to pitch friday against the Yanks. Saturday and Sunday would then be Pedro Martinez and Tom Glavine respectively.

Re: Subway Series Rotation

Pedro Martinez and Tom Glavine should put up quite a fight against their neighboors, the New York Yankees. Don't forget that Hideki Matsui is injured so the Mets have an edge there. Would you happen to know who is pitching for the Yankees? If Randy Johnson is scheduled, I am not sure if the Mets will be able to mess around with him. He has some great starts and some dreadful ones. I consider him one huge question mark. The Mets really have to watch out for Mike Mussina who is having an unbelievable season thus far.

Re: Subway Series Rotation

Supposedly, Randy Johnson will pitch on Friday, Mussina will pitch on Saturday (the MLB schedule says that Pedro will pitch that game), and Chacon vs. Glavine on Sunday....

Sounds good to me.

You'll find me sitting on my couch with a bucket of popcorn cheering for the Mets.

What about you?

Zito verses Glavine would have had a nicer ring to it...

Re: Subway Series Rotation

That's funny because there were some rumors going around here saying that Zito was coming to Flushing.

But on the Yankees forum you guys claim he is going to the Bronx.

We have to make a decision here!

Re: Subway Series Rotation

Barry Zito will become a free agent at years end. If he's traded by Oakland at the deadline or not remains to be seen. Zito wants to play free agency and get as much money as he can, reportedly pitting the two NY teams against each other.

I'd love to see the Mets sweep those Yankees, but they better not pitch Lima that would be a sure loss

Re: Subway Series Rotation

It's pouring/thundering and all that jazz here in NYC. I'd assume there's a high grade of doubt as to whether or not they'll be able to get the game in tonight. If they don't...it would help both squads.

Aaron Small is scheduled to pitch Sunday night for the Yanks as Chacon is hurt.
