Moises Alou flew back to NY earlier today to check with doctors as he was experiencing discomfort on the right side of his groin. As it turns out, he has a hernia. Word this evening is that Alou will go under the knife for surgery and will be out around 4-6 weeks.

This means he may not return to the team until mid-late April. This also means the Mets will have to bring on an extra OF to start the season with.

Only a couple of weeks into spring training and the Mets are already a bunch of walking wounded.

Meh.. with Alou you never know anything except that he will go on the DL for some time. hopefully Pagan and Clark step up into the job. as it seems the Mets aren't going to trade for anyone right now.
