With last night's impressive 13-4 win over the Phillies, Mets starter Tom Glavine became only the 38th pitcher in MLB history to reach the 4,000 innings pitched mark. He went 7 innings allowing just 3 runs on 4 hits (2 home runs). He's now 5-2 on the season with a 2.19 ERA.

Great accomplishment, Tom Glavine! I heard that he is close to like his 300th career win?

Those are excellent statistics for this season! If he keeps it up it would be a miracle.

As a matter of fact, isn't he doing about the same this year as Pedro Martinez?

Glavine has 280 career wins. When he originally signed with the Mets, it was thought that 300 was in no way shape or form a doubt. However, he pitched below average his 1st two years here and the wide belief was that he wouldn't make it. However, he's picked it up the past 1.5 years and has a good 2-3 if not more, years left. He could potentially pick up his 300th win next year...in a Mets uni.

As far as he and Pedro...the stats:

Glavine: 5-2, 2.19 ERA, 45 k, 17 bb, 1.03 WHIP, 53.1 IP, .196 BAA
Martinez: 5-0, 2.89 ERA, 52 k, 14 bb, .86 WHIP, 46.2 IP, .164 BAA

Without a doubt, 2 aces for this club and both are early Cy Young candidates (a little early?).

Glavine has 280 lifetime wins...and 5 seasons over 20 wins...impressive numbers worthy of Hall of Fame consideration...Pedro is at 5-0 to his 5-2...Glavine has the better ERA, Pedro has mroe K's and lower WHIP...
