| Mets Acquire Johan Santana The Mets have 72 hours to work out a contract extension with Johan Santana and THEN a trade sending four prospects to Minnesota will become official. The Mets will send OF Carlos Gomez, RHP Phil Humber, RHP Deolis Guerra and RHP Kevin Mulvey to the twins for LHP Johan Santana. Santana has reportedly been asking for a 7-year deal while the Mets reportedly would like to offer him a 5-year deal with more money per year. I assume they'll settle for a 6-year deal. Twins agree to deal Santana to Mets for prospects - USATODAY.com WOW!!! If the Mets can get Santana signed and this deal is official...WOW. They would have acquired one of the top starters in the game without giving up their top position prospect or Mike Pelfrey (although RF may be a hole they need to fill if Ryan Church isn't a full-time starter). |

| What a steal! The Mutts gave up ntg to get the best lefty out there. You have to believe that Minnesota wanted him out of the AL because the deal the Yanks offerred was so much better then this. Not one of the pitchers has anywhere near the ceiling of Phil Hughes, nor is Gomez close to the potential of Ellsbury. A sad day for the Twins, hard to believe no other NL team stepped up to bid. |

| Re: Mets Acquire Johan Santana From USA Today, Tori Hunter commented on the trade, "The Mets are not only getting a Cy Young winner, but an absolute bulldog who's great in the clubhouse. He's going to dominate that league. They're going to absolutely love him in New York. I know he's happy, too, because he really wanted to go to the Mets. He's always wanted to swing the wood. He can hit. So I don't know who's happier, Johan, the Mets, or everyone in the American League because they don't have to face him anymore." |

| Re: Mets Acquire Johan Santana Did he have to pass a physical. I heard a report on the radio that the Twins may have seen something in him the last month or so last season. They said he lost the last 6 or 7 games and had an ERA over 6.00 to close out the season. They were saying that is why they were so hot to get rid of him. Could there be any truth to this?
