There was some talk that the Twins feared there would be something wrong with Santana's shoulder and citing the fact he threw less sliders in the 2nd half last year. But that all appears to be nothing.

Right now, the Mets and Santana's agent are negotiating a deal. I think they have until end of business tomorrow (unless they agree to an extension of negotiating window, if they can).

I can't see there being any problem getting a deal done, really, especially if he's than keen to play for the Mets.

The deadline for the Mets/Santana negotiations is 5pm Friday. I've heard reports ranging from Santana wanting as much as $175 million and the Mets being as far as $20 million away from completing a deal.

I still see this deal getting done at 7 years guaranteed for $160 million. Quite the price, but can they just let Santana go back to Minny?
