Over the past two days, a lot has seemingly transpired in baseball land when concerning Johan Santana. With the Red Sox and Yankees quiet, the Mets have jumped to the forefront of talks with the Minnesota Twins.
Reportedly, the Mets made an official offer to the Twins including: pitching prospect Deolis Guerra, center fielder Carlos Gomez and pitchers Kevin Mulvey and Phil Humber. The Twins countered and said the Mets would have a "
DONE DEAL" if they included outfielder Fernando Martinez.
The offer includes the
an in the Mets system according to Baseball America and then Humber who is rated 7th in the organization.
Then, reports came out saying Mets owner Fred Wilpon gave Omar Minaya the OK where money is concerned. So if Minaya can acquire Santana, the Mets would be willing to fork over the big bucks.
A story to follow indeed...the Red Sox and Yankees don't want to fork over the players while the Mets may do so.
