Mets to Sign Jose Valentin
I read a local report earlier that the New York Mets are about to sign veteran second baseman Jose Valentin to a minor league deal. He won't be ready for the start of the year due to surgery but he should be good to go soon thereafter.

Valentin was with the big league Mets in 2007 but was injured and put on the DL for the majority of the season. The position ended up being filled by Ruben Gotay and then Luis Castillo.
