| Re: Mets trade Milledge to Nationals This is the same dope who was high fiving fans after his first homer and he always seemed to be doing or saying the wrong thing. Minaya is not an idiot along the lines of the Kazmir regime, and I am certain he talked to the Twins about a Santana deal. The problem is that Minnesota needs pitching in return, and the Mets have NONE to offer.

| Re: Mets trade Milledge to Nationals MLB "insiders" have said there was no way Milledge was going to bring back a starter at this point. So I assume knowing that, the Mets felt like getting two fresh players who will start for them. The holdup for fans though, Milledge is a 22-year old guy with a ton of potential. Whether he fulfills that, who knows. He certainly didn't until this point. But it's not like he had a big chance to do anything. Church is almost 30-years old and we know what kind of player he is. |

| Re: Mets trade Milledge to Nationals Without knowing any of the Met officials and their opinions on Milledge from a personal level, their options were: 1) Keep Milledge and start him in RF. Milledge continues to let down offensively. Value lessens even more. 2) Keep Milledge and start him in RF. Milledge actually hits well. Mets keep him or look to deal him for a "better" package. 3) Trade Milledge for the best package right now. |

| Re: Mets trade Milledge to Nationals I don't know about that. But it was reported two years ago Beane wanted Milledge but the Mets wouldn't part with him. I don't know for sure but I think the Mets could have gotten Zito for a deal with Milledge as the big prospect. |

| Re: Mets trade Milledge to Nationals Gotham Baseball puts the trade into perspective. They note Milledge may end up developing into a nice player down the line, but the Mets aren't interested in waiting. Milledge doesn't seem to be developing power, has spent time on the DL and still has "youthful" issues. They example Milledge getting suspended for a few games for arguing a call down the stretch last year, then inciting the Marlins in the final series. |

| Re: Mets trade Milledge to Nationals I am not trying to be argumentative, but there is no way I will believe the best they could have gotten for a 22yr old stud 5 tool prospect were these two stiffs. They are not trying to better the club if that is what they thought was equal value even in this market.

You're looking at Milledge as if this is 2005 and he's the Mets #1 prospect. If he is that same player, no doubt the Mets didn't get equal value. But if he's not that player, the deal isn't as bad as it seems. |
