The New York Mets traded reliever Guillermo Mota to the Milwaukee Brewers for catcher Johnny Estrada.
MetsBlog reported on the trade, "In 120 games with the Brewers last season, Estrada hit .278 with 10 homers and 54 RBI. Estrada underwent arthroscopic surgery on October 4th to repair torn medical meniscus in his left knee. He also had a bone spur removed from his right elbow."
Great news for Mets fans who wanted Mota gone with a passion. Now they possibly have a back-up catcher to show for the former steroid abuser. Estrada is a nice player but I wonder if the Mets feel he's a lock for the back-up spot or if they will still be looking. Paul Lo Duca is gone...and he's not coming back.
