The Daily News believes the Mets have made free-agent catcher Jorge Posada their top off-season priority...according to Mets sources.
The report says in the current 15-day exclusive negotiating window, the Yanks have yet to sit down and talk with Posada. Rumor says they will offer him a 3-year, $40 million deal. But the NYDN's sources say Posada "wants more."
"If the Mets offer Posada four years - or possibly five - it would leave the Yankees in a difficult spot, as they would be committing more years than they wish to a catcher who will turn 37 next summer."
It would be tough to give Posada four years. The guy had a great year in 07 but I don't expect him to keep it up.
