Pedro on a roll

Amazing pitcher this guy! 33 innings pitched and only 19 hits allowed, 33 strikeouts. But an uncharacteristic 11 walks and 5 home runs given up, which explains his relatively high ERA of 2.94.
Amazing thing is he is doing it without his fastball, which tops out now at around 92. He can throw any pitch, any time, and he seems to outguess 99 out of 100 batters. When we look back at what he had done in a few years, there will really be nobody that you can compare his style to. Can anyone think of a similar hurler?

Re: Pedro on a roll

This guy is a winner no doubt. He has great stuff and a set of brass ****. He brings a winning attitude to a team that is running away with the division. Go Mets.

Relatively high ERA of 2.94? That is incredibly low compared to the league average. And plus in the 2004 season he finished with an era of 3.90! It would be a miracle if I could pitch like that.

Re: Pedro on a roll

It is relatively high in comparison to his 5-0 record and only 19 hits allowed in 33 innings, undoubtedly due to the 5 home runs and 11 walks.

Re: Pedro on a roll

Alright, Legend.

But do you think he will finish the season with more wins than Curt Schilling of the Red Sox, or Greg Maddux of the Cubs?

Re: Pedro on a roll

Definitely more than both of them. The National League lineups are like a vacation compared to what Pedro faced in the American League. Although Pedro could fall victim to an injury at his age, I would bet that Schilling is more susceptable than Martinez, as he is much older. The Cubs are playing halfway decent, but the Curse of the Goat will soon take exception to Maddux's great start and allow someone to line a ball off his wrist or something similar.

Ah, Pedro's looking good... but personally I don't see him finishing with more wins than Maddux.
