Bannister Injured in Mets Win

Bannister injured his hammy while running the basepaths earlier today. It's been referred to as a "strained" hamstring but it looks pretty serious. I would expect him to miss some starts. Who steps in? Perhaps Heilman, Lima or another run of the mill pitcher.

Pelfrey was promoted to AA-Binghampton earlier today, but there's not a chance he's called up to Shea before August.

The Mets won in extra innings after Bonds pinch hit homer off Wagner tied the ballgame.

Carlos Beltran's status will be evaluated on Friday, at that point the team will decide what to do. Some say he should go on the DL....which is what I think, especially if he can't play the field for some time. Call up Lastings Milledge already who's redhot at AAA-Norfolk.

Off to Atlanta we go.

Cool Re: Bannister Injured in Mets Win

The don't have to do anything right now because The mets have an off day so they could skip his turn.

Re: Bannister Injured in Mets Win

Last night's Mets game was amazing.

I hope Bannister get better. I hear that Pelfry is pretty good.

As a Mets fan I feel slightly ripped off because Beltran always gets injured. But we already bought him. What can we possible do?

Re: Bannister Injured in Mets Win

Sounds like Bannister will only miss a start or two. The likely name they'd consider bringing up should Bannister miss two starts would be John Maine since he's already on the 40-man.

I know how you feel Marc but put it this way, let him get healthy...no need to rush him back and we'll have him for the meat of the season.

Pedro v. Smoltz tonight in ATL....

Great match-up, EmpireWF!

I pitched as John Maine in a video game. He is pretty good and finished a simulated Mets' 2006 season with a .500 record. He is a great prospect for the future!
