The Met season is officially over at 88-72, in 2nd place in the NL East and out of the playoffs.
Controlling their own fate, hall of famer Tom Glavine took the mound against the Marlins. He only retired one batter in route to allowing seven runs. The Mets had numerous chances to cut the lead down but could not get the hits. The Marlins were fired up and won, 8-1.
I guess the tussle on Saturday was the worst thing that could happen for the Mets.
The Mets, favored to win the division all year long blew the bit in September. The biggest choke in the final regular season month belongs to the Mets. Even with a 2 1/2 game lead heading into the final week wasn't good enough.
It's going to be a long......long winter.
