Cool Mets choking

There's no doubt about it. The Mets are in huge trouble. When you can't even hold a 5-0 lead vs. Washington, I don't see it getting any better.

I have to admit, this is fun to watch.

Pedro better win today against St. Louis

Re: Mets choking

HUGE trouble? I admit things haven't looked pretty as of late. The pitching just hasn't been there. Starters aren't going deep and the bullpen can't hold a lead.

With four games left, they really need to win at least three games to control the division (so they wouldn't have to worry about what the Phils do).

Re: Mets choking

This is painful to watch. it is literally like watching someone drown. I feel for Randolph, but if they miss the playoffs, someone is going to have to take a bullet and it will be poor Willie. It's not like he has a lot of good choices when looking down the bullpen bench. OMG they were shutout by Joel Piniero! He was run out of Boston on a rail this year.

I agree with you man. Randolph seems to have a lot of class. I love watching him as a kid when he played for the Yanks. It's a shame he has to be the one taking the heat.

Re: Mets choking

What's Willie to do? Wagner is as dependable as a weather forecast in winter, the rest of the bullpen is awful, their "whiz kids" from the minors whiz down their legs when they take the mound, and only Reyes and Wright have been around all year.

Humber pitched well but ran out of gas early on.

Reyes has been awful for practically the past two weeks.

The Mets need to relax and play their game. They have everyone healthy (well, Marlon Anderson is suspended), there's no reason why they can't put runs on the board. As far as the pitching goes, it's tough. Jorge Sosa has been good but the entire bullpen recently has been bad.

Just one weekend, just one weekend.

Cool Re: Mets choking

I don't see how Randolph is the one who will take the bullet.

In the last 8 games, the staff ERA is over 6. Tell me how that's his fault. If anybody should get blamed it should be Minaya for leaving Willie with mediocre pitching.

Now I haven't watched the Mets on a day to day basis but I have watched the last few days and Randolph hasn't done anything wrong.

The team can't pitch.

Re: Mets choking

Randolph isn't going anywhere. He's making over $2 million for the next two years. Ownership won't be paying Howe, Randolph and a new manager.

There's no doubt the pitching (safe for Pedro) has been horrible over the last week. Our line-up has put up runs, but the pitching (and some defensive mistakes) has allowed more.
