Mets Lose Five Straight

The Mets have lost five straight and are in danger of getting swept in Washington. Huh?!?

The Mets lost earlier tonight after having big leads early on. John Maine couldn't hold them. With the tying run on third in the 9th, Ruben Gotay struck out to end the game.

Tomorrow, Mike Pelfrey takes the mound for the Mets.

The Phillies are in extra innings, tied with the Cardinals right now. If the Phils win, they'll only be 1.5 games behind the Mets.

Maybe it was a little too early to start counting down that magic number? Phillies are gaining ground fast!

Re: Mets Lose Five Straight

Willie Randoph was saying last night how much sweeter the Champagne will taste after this is over! Glad NY is close to Philly, just in case he needs to sell it off!!!

Davey Lopes was asked last night if he thought the Mets were looking over thier shoulder. He said "yep, and they are seeing us"!

I don't know if the Phils will make it, and if they do, if it won't be more the Mets just choking if they do make it. But the Mets aren't going far if they don't start playing better ball.

I'm truly shocked. A week ago, I thought the wild card was the only way the Phils could win, but those damn Padres just won't lose!

I hope the Mets losing way continue, I'll take any route to the playoff the Phils can get!

lol, here's part of the Randolph quote...

"I’ve been there many times and this all feels very normal to me, very much like what a pennant race should be. My players are feeling it, too – and this will be a good experience for them. When we sip a little champagne later on, it’ll be a little sweeter."

The Mets offense awoke last night, now they need their pitching to turn the corner. I saw a stat on TV that said in the past five games their ERA has been over 6. OUCH!
