Mets Phil Humber to Start?

One of the top Mets pitching prospects, Phil Humber is likely to get a start in the big leagues this Saturday against Atlanta in a crucial series.

It seems the Brian Lawrence era is over in Flushing (note sarcasm).

There was talk that the spot start could go to Mike Pelfrey but word from the Mets is they would like to put him in the bullpen when the rosters expand in a few days instead. Of course, this spot in the rotation is reserved for Pedro Martinez when he likely joins the big league club next week.

Humber has never had a big league start (in fact, he's only pitched 2 innings in relief in the majors...last year). Prior to drafting Pelfrey, Humber was considered the #1 pitching prospect in the Mets system.

Fans have wanted to get a glimpse of Humber in the big leagues all season it seems, they may get their wish this weekend.
