Mets Injury Updates

The following comes from the Mets Minor League Report Blog

Quote:
Mike Pelfrey was scheduled to throw Thursday, but was skipped with “fatigue.” Pelfrey has thrown 125 innings this year total versus 117.2 last year. Joe Smith is nursing tendonitis in his elbow. Ambiorix Burgos felt something wrong in his elbow, left the mound in pain Friday, and was headed to the doctor. Early word was it looked bad.

Pelfrey's fatigue doesn't sound like anything abnormal. The kid has had a long (and rough) season and probably will get some rest in the coming weeks. He may get a September big league call-up if he's healthy and the Mets clinch early.

Joe Smith hit that rookie wall about a month or so ago and there hasn't been much talk about him since. I'm not sure what tendonitis can prohibit the guy from doing and how long but hopefully it won't keep him off the mound for the rest of the year.

As for Burgos, anything with elbow pain is scary. Hope for the best I guess.

Re: Mets Minor League Pitching Injury Updates

Pelfrey is just another over-hyped Mets pitching prospect. They should have dealt him before this season.

I'm not on that side of the line just yet. Sure things didn't 'click' this year but he still has a ton of talent. I'm excited to see how he bounces back next year.
