| Mets Beat Hoffman in 9th
The Mets and Padres began a three game set earlier tonight in rainy Shea. The Padres had a one-run lead in the 8th but gave it up. Jose Reyes got on base with an infield single. He stole second and went to third on a sacrifice grounder from Luis Castillo. David Wright walked and Carlos Beltran delivered with an RBI base hit to tie the game.
The Padres got the lead back in the top of the 9th (Wagner didn't have his control tonight) and welcomed Trevor Hoffman.
But the Mets fought back with Lastings Milledge getting on base. Mike DiFilece sacrificed him to second. Marlon Anderson drove in the tying run with a single. Luis Castillo came through in the clutch with a base hit to score Anderson from second and win the game.
