Mets v. Nats - Round 2 of about 5 Tonight

The Mets are in Washington tonight for the National's home opener. Brian Bannister will pitch tonight, followed by Pedro tomorrow and then Zambrano I believe. MLB told the two teams to simply play ball...how bout that.

Still, the way Jose Guillen has been talking, if anyone pitches inside to him, he's gonna flip.

It will be interesting to see how Bannister does in his 2nd MLB start, his 2nd against the Nats in a week. Can the rook change up his plan a little to off-set the veterans in washington?

Re: Mets v. Nats - Round 2 of about 5 Tonight

How about that, it was a day game lol. I didn't even know. Anyway, Brian Bannister did a great job to earn his 1st MLB victory and being the 1st Mets starter to go 7 innings. Billy Wagner didn't look settled and hopefully, it's just rust after hurting his finger in the spring.

Wednesday's night game will see Pedro on the mound. He was loudly boo'd by the Nat's fans during their opening day. The local media has gotten quotes for Mets players who basically acknowledge the fact that if Pedro hits any Nationals batter, the benches will empty.

I just hope Guillen can keep his cool.

And boy, have the Met bats been hot or what

The line on Bannister sure was impressive - 1 run, 3 hits, 0 walks, 1 K in 7.0 innings. And he's a rookie, to boot? He's going to be a good one. But you've definitely got to be a little concerned anytime your closer walks three battlers, like Wagner did.

The Mets are doing what they should be doing: Beating up on 2 bad teams - the sign of a good team. I wouldn't get too crazy over Wagner yet. Wait till the weather warms up a little.

Good point Pundit about the weather. I know Pedro cited the cold weather last week in NYC as a problem for him gripping his curve ball. The weather should be warming up soon (it's suppose to be raining over the next few days up here at least).

And as we speak - Pedro and Wagner have good outings.

Re: Mets v. Nats - Round 2 of about 5 Tonight

Victor Zambrano started his 1st game of the year and got the Win for the sweep against the Nats. He didn't pitch all that good though. Too many walks for my liking.

The bats were alive and well again with Beltran (another monster shot), Delgado, Wright and Floyd getting homers off of Hernandez early.

And boy is Jorge Julio terrible or what? He struck out 2 and still looked bad lol.

Mets play Milwaukee over the weekend.

7-1...best in the MLB
