Newsday reports the Mets will designate for assignment Julio Franco to make room for a returning Lastings Milledge.

Franco (who will soon turn 4, I think can accept a minor league stint, or possibly be traded or released.

Milledge should be a starting outfielder starting later today.

What the Mets should have done was ask Franco to retire and become hitting coach. Franco has to be done. Nobody is going to pick him up at 48 years old.

he still can hit in clutch situations, somebody will want his services, no way he goes to the minors, maybe he will return to the braves..
