It sure seems so. In fact last year seems like an upset because so many Mets fans thought they were the best team in the NL...and probably were (but the Cardinals won...good for them ). Now again in 2007 it seems the expectations are high as the talk around town is it's World Series or bust. I agree...anything less is just dissapointment IMO.

NBCSports agrees as they list the Mets as the only team with such expectations.

Pedro's expected to be back sometime in August. I've heard that he may be as good as ever once he's back. That remains to be seen, as long as he can be a good #3 in the rotation, I'll be happy.

A Mets/BoSox rematch would be welcomed and of course as long as the NL wins that damn All Star Game and Game 6 is back at Shea

No one wants the Red Sox in the World Series. The Mets will probably get there, but I wouldn't be surprised if Boston beats them in 4 games.

I actually predicted a Red Sox v. Mets (or Cubs) World Series before the season started, and it looks like I might be right.

I'm surprised the Red Sox are rated so highly, as are the Yankees.

The Dodgers are up there, but the Mets are considered one of the best teams in baseball.

All in all, I believe the Mets will make a serious run at the World Series.

The Red Sox have the 3rd best start in MLB history, and out of those top 5 teams, no one has won the World Series. That proves a team with the best start doesn't mean they are automatically World Series potential. We will see when playoff time comes around.

If anybody thinks they are going to get anything form Pedro, they are kidding themselves. He's a breakdown waiting to happen. I doubt he pitches again for any length of time.

Why exactly is he a breakdown waiting to happen? Obviously I don't think anyone is expecting 1999 Pedro to show up but he should be comparable to recent Pedro if not better. Especially considering the man's work ethic and the man himself, he should be fine.

Slated for an August return, I believe he will throw his first bullpen session and mound session this week. Hopefully all goes well...(as opposed to that "other" pitcher cross town who has a tired grown... )
